I like to (when possible) roll random encounters ahead of time and between session, though that only works when you assume a slow rate of travel.

I've started doing this in the campaign now, especially for the daily overland encounter.

The challenge with Dolmenwood is that each hex/area has its own table so sometimes there is some guesswork involved.

Yeah. With my group I pretty much expect that they will end wanting to travel somewhere in the next session. I ask them where and roll any relevant encounter rolls up and try to attach it to something in the wood. I probably would not roll random encounters otherwise, because it is a little much for 'on the fly' work.

That's 100% why I would up building a generator for it: https://perchance.org/z19qw0bndq

Also I wanted to say that I love these write-ups. I really hope you are able to play in Dolmenwood for a long time!
