Im playing solo Shadowdark - Citadel of the crimson minotaur on Fantasy grounds vtt. Maps are great and so is light tool they have. Really enjoying following your adventures.
Hey!!! My play-by-post group is wrapping this up...as we speak they are fleeing the citadel with the two weapons they went in to get and the Scarlett Minotaur is chasing them.
I wanted the characters to have a tiny reason to go into the deadly dungeon beyond just "oh cool loot!" that could also be applied to any replacement characters.
I told them they were all from a nearby village and that their seer had said a dragon was coming to destroy the village in 1 week. The village's only hope of survival was retrieving 2 legendary weapons, Vigilant and Asterion, from an ancient temple nearby.
Great link into the adventure. I have 4 adventurers in my solo game. They managed to retrieve Asterion and get out without meeting the minotaur for the first session. Session 2 Minotaur came back while they searched the courtyard. Part fled and got split up. Goblin thief killed by cave crawler and dragged away while halfling priestess watched paralysed and half orc warrior dying beside her. Rolled encounter next round and beastmen came sniffing around. Took halfling prisoner and executed the fighter then stole Asterion. Meanwhile Human wizard was chased by minotaur and gored - now dying. Rolled a twist on oracle and she was stabilised by some old dude in the game ( can’t remember his name. )
Looks like he may be a new character. Yep things not going great lol. Play by mail is fun.
My bad. I thought when you said play by post you meant mail haha. Here in Australia we call mail - post lol. I was thinking the same as you about slow play.i need more interaction than play by mail. Showing my age here but played that way twenty years ago for a campaign and lots of waiting…

Wow...play by mail?
That's some slow play indeed.

Indeed.
We play using discord. It winds up being more like play by text. With a lot of organization.
It's been a fun way to feel like the map is still getting explored.
